Title:

Navigating Freedom: A Critical Examination of Minority Male Prisoner Re-entry into U.S. Society

Abstract:

The issue of mass incarceration in the United States has been a topic of debate for many decades. This concern arises from the disproportionate impact it has on minority communities and their residents, leading to a complicated network of systemic challenges for individuals attempting to reintegrate into society after serving time. In a country characterized by its diverse population, the United States faces the sobering reality that minorities, particularly African Americans and Hispanics represent a significant portion of the prison population. Statistics from the Federal Bureau of Prisons illustrate that these groups account for a disproportionate share of those incarcerated, underscoring the pressing need to investigate the challenges they confront during

the re-entry process (Sawyer and Wagner, 2024).

By examining the complexities surrounding prisoner re-entry, this paper aspires to shed light on the effects of systemic factors on the experiences of minority individuals, providing insights that could influence policies and interventions aimed at fostering a more equitable and just society. It is essential to grasp the nuanced intersections of race, economic inequality, and policy implications, not only for the field of sociology but also for devising effective strategies that tackle the root causes of elevated incarceration rates among minorities and facilitate successful reintegration into society. By centering on the experiences of minority individuals, this research hopes to enhance the comprehensive understanding of the dynamics impacting prisoner re-entry

and subsequently offer evidence-based recommendations to promote positive outcomes within these communities.
